John Nessel is a principal of Restaurant Solutions having joined the company in 2001 to direct and administer company operations and business development. He also leads our restaurant Management & Financial advisory services .   John received his BS from Cornell University and MS from the University of Florida. He has been actively involved in the restaurant industry for 21 years as a restaurant owner and operator, real estate site acquisition specialist and financial management consultant. In 1982, John opened his first restaurant cafe, City Market , in Burlington, VT. It was one of the first "gourmet" food cafe/takeout concepts in New England. Two years later he opened City Side , an eclectic food concept that featured a 90 seat white tablecloth restaurant, a 50 seat casual cafe and a gourmet take out retail counter, all under the same roof. Both restaurants became "institutions" in this dynamic university town.

John left the restaurant business in 1987 and began a career in commercial real estate brokerage that culminated in his co-founding the firm VT Commercial Real Estate in 1991. He specialized in Tenant Representation, and worked with a variety of regional and national restaurant companies, finding new locations and negotiating leases. His work with these companies motivated John to return to restaurant business to create and operate a multi-unit bagel cafe and manufacturing business, Aesops Bagels , in 1994.

John sold the business in 1999, and created the Restaurant Resource Group http://www.rrgconsulting.com . The company currently provides financial management tools and support services to independent restaurant operators. John is the author of the " Restaurant Operators Complete Guide to QuickBooks ", the definitive industry guide to the accounting software application used by most independent restaurants today. John also writes articles relating to restaurant finance and operations that are posted to a variety of industry websites including Restaurant Owner.com and Restaurant Report . He is also a contributor to Restaurant Startup and Growth Magazine, and offers full day seminars in Restaurant Accounting to groups of independent owners and operators.
